Right to Repair
There’s a GofundMe effort to bring this issue to vote
Have you ever had to buy an entirely different type of screwdriver just to open a laptop, just to find out that you have to yet again buy another kind of screw head just to replace the battery? Ever wonder why a machine whose previous model was relatively easy to fix is suddenly a Japanese puzzle box with an unsolved rubix cube inside? That’s on purpose!
Manufacturers of devices and machines have increasingly been intentionally making it harder for consumers to service their own devices, as well as making it more difficult for third party repair services. When devices can only be repaired by their manufacturers, you lose the ability to fix them yourself; when the manufacturer creates firmware that detects unauthorized repairs, you lose the ability to shop around for fairly priced components; and when that same company holds the monopoly on fixing the product that you bought, you are at their mercy when it comes to repair cost, planned obsolescence, and even use.
Right to Privacy
I believe in the right to be able to be private on the internet… the right to not be tracked on every site that you visit. It appears that even the FCC in recent years is no longer interested in the consumer.
Because of those and many other reasons, VPNs will become much more important in the future, and arguably they already are. I use Windscribe, because they have locations all over the world as well as well as servers dedicated for Netflix, however, there are a number of options you may use.
